Speaker 1:

What's good everyone. This is Langston Clark, founder and organizer of entrepreneur appetite series of events dedicated to building community, promoting intellectualism and supporting black businesses. I want to give a huge shout out to our dedicated listeners for tuning into season 4 of entrepreneurial appetite. Before we jump into a sneak peek of what's coming up in our next season, let's take a moment to reflect on three standout episodes from this season. Our top episode from last year featured a captivating conversation with Henry Rivers, president of the National Brotherhood of Snow Sports, formerly the National Brotherhood of Skiers. Since 1974, this organization has been on the mission to diversify snow sports, providing a welcoming space for black folks.

The second most popular episode was part of our special series highlighting black entrepreneurs in black team technology and cryptocurrency. Clev Mestador, the executive director of the blockchain foundation, shared her journey into cryptocurrency and explored the significant role black folks have played since bitcoin's inception in 2009. Securing the third spot was a thought provoking discussion with A Kirsten Mullen and William Darity, the authors of From here to Equality Reparations for Black Americans in the 21st century, and I will say that that book is one of the best books that I have read since starting entrepreneurial appetite. So those of you who are in our book club, who joined our live discussions. I encourage all of you to go ahead and get that book. I also want to note that we did a special series on black folks, black entrepreneurs who are working in the outdoors, and I want to take a moment to highlight one of the episodes from the movement outdoors, which is the name of our series. This bonus episode was called Hive Mapping and Overlanding, and in this episode, we had a fascinating conversation with Ariel Seedman, founder of Hive Mapper, a company revolutionizing the mapping industry through blockchain technology, and so, although Ariel is not African American, he's white. We allowed Nikoda and Sonia Staples, founders of Staples Intents, who are overlanders, to talk about how hive mapping decentralized mapping can be a part of their lifestyle, and what makes this episode extra special is that it actually provides some insights on the opportunity for you all to boost your income by mining your own cryptocurrency through hive mapping, and so I'll let you all check that episode out to get more information about the technology and how you can be a part of that and maybe make some extra coin.

So, looking ahead to 2024, season five of the podcast promises even more excitement and need even more interesting conversations with black authors and black entrepreneurs. We'll continue our live virtual conversations, accessible through our Patreon membership. And, guess what? We are also expanding into more in person events. So, following up on our conversation with Dr Darity and Ms Mullen, entrepreneurial appetite is teaming up with the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum to host a live discussion on January 6th about their latest book, the Black Reparations Project a handbook for racial justice, and this will take place at Texas Public Radio. This is a special event, so those of you who are living in Texas and live near San Antonio, put this event on your calendar, because it's something you won't want to miss. So what I'm going to do for those of you who might be able to attend in person is I'll include a registration link for this in the show notes. Also, those who are attending this live event at Texas Public Radio, if you get the VIP tickets, it comes with a signed copy of the book the Black Reparations Project.

Speaker 1:

So, continuing our exploration of black excellence and black chain technology, we're going to have another episode with Professor Tanya Evans Esquire, a law professor at the Penn State Dickens Law School, who will share insights from her new book Digital Money Demystified Go From Cash to Crypto Safely, legally and Confidently. And so tune into this season's conversation with Professor Evans as we delved into her insights into the legal aspects of NFTs and black chain technology, as that was part of our special series on black folks working in black chain technology. Next season's conversation is the follow up, which will feature some good talks about her book. Our lineup for next season also includes discussions on the rich history of black business with Dr Brandon K Winford, author of John Hervey Willer, black Banking and the Economic Struggle for Civil Rights, and another conversation with Dr Shannette Garrett Scott, author of Banking, on Freedom, black Women and US Finance Before the New Deal. This is just a taste of our episodes and live recordings that we have in store for you in 2024.
