Entrepreneurial Appetite
Entrepreneurial Appetite is a series of events dedicated to building community, promoting intellectualism, and supporting Black businesses. This podcast will feature edited versions of Entrepreneurial Appetite’s Black book discussions, including live conversations between a virtual audience, authors, and Black entrepreneurs. In this community, we do not limit what it means to be an intellectual or entrepreneur. We recognize that the sisters and brothers who own and work in beauty salons or barbershops are intellectuals just as much as sisters and brothers who teach and research at universities. This podcast is unique because, as part of this community, you have the opportunity to participate in our monthly book discussion, suggest the book to be discussed, or even lead the conversation between the author and our community of intellectuals and entrepreneurs. For more information about participating in our monthly discussions, please follow Entrepreneurial_ Appetite on Instagram and Twitter. Please consider supporting the show as one of our Founding 55 patrons. For five dollars a month, you can access our live monthly conversations. See the link below:https://www.patreon.com/EA_BookClub

Speaker 1:Once again, this is Langston Clark, the founder and organizer of Entrepreneurial Appetite, a series of events dedicated to building community, promoting intellectualism and supporting Black businesses. And as we wrap up 2024, we're taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year of dialogue and discussion with Black authors and Black entrepreneurs. In this special year in review episode, we're counting down our top five most downloaded episodes of the year, revisiting the impactful stories and invaluable lessons shared by our amazing guests. Kicking off the countdown at number five, we had Calvin Mensah and Aaron Wilson, the visionary co-founders of Approved Jets and Approved Experiences. From humble beginnings as barbers and sneaker flippers to running a thriving luxury travel business, calvin and Aaron share their entrepreneurial journey. This episode offered invaluable lessons on mentorship, risk-taking and building a solid foundation for success. Their story inspired listeners to think big and embrace calculated risks to create unique business opportunities. At number four, we spotlighted Kalia Martin of Kingdom Press, whose innovative approach is reshaping the publishing industry. Kalia's journey from pre-med student to product manager in the publishing world is marked by courage, faith and a commitment to innovation. Her insights into blockchain technology, nfts and the evolving publishing landscape resonated with aspiring authors and entrepreneurs alike, making this episode a standout.
Speaker 1:Taking the third spot is our thought-provoking two-part series on reparations with scholars William Darity and A Kirsten Mullen. These episodes delve into the history and necessity for reparations for Black Americans, exploring the racial wealth gap, federal policy and the moral imperative for action. The conversations were both educational and inspiring, challenging listeners to consider the role of justice in shaping a more equitable future. Coming in at number two, dr Paris Woods joined us for a discussion about her book the Black Girl's Guide to Financial Freedom. This episode tackled practical strategies for achieving fiscal independence, from debt repayment to redefining assets and liabilities. Dr Wood's personal story and actionable advice inspired our audience to take control of their financial destinies, making this one of our most impactful episodes of the year.
Speaker 1:Finally, at the top of our list, the most downloaded episode of 2024, is our conversation with Kwame Bowler, co-founder of Spritz, a SaaS platform that helps cleaners and domestic workers run their businesses more efficiently. Kwame's journey into tech entrepreneurship captivated our audience.
